Close
to the Mercantour National Park, in the Haut Verdon valley and
benefitting from a sunny climate for most of the year, at 1200
m altitude, Villars-Colmars is a small, pituresque village of
220 inhabitants whose greatest wish is to give their visitors
the warmest welcome.
This little summer health resort, surrounded by its meadows, pines
and larch trees, offers the tourist many walks ; Puy Forest, the
summit of Denjuan, the little village of Chasse hidden away in
the middle of the mountains, and the Moulière wood, are
some of the superb panoramas to discover. Not forgetting, of course,
the old village itself, built on a gentle slope, unveiling its
ancient stone houses and harbouring sheltered fountains, washing
bassins, old doors and vaulted passageways, and especially its
famous sundial dating from 1699. a series of 9 wayside chapels,
with one from the 19th century, completes the architectural heritage
of this haven of peace, which is highly recommended for nature
lovers, fishermen, walkers ad skiers.
